Acai Berry Review
April 2nd, 2010 | Published in Food & Drink Reviews
One of the things that people in the health food community is raving about is the acai berry. It’s one of the known “super fruits” that have a huge concentration of nutrients; this has caused the acai berry to soar in terms of demand for a number of reasons.
- The berry is extremely rich in antioxidants, with as much as 10 times the antioxidants than red grapes.
- It promotes cardio and digestive health due to the amount of dietary fibers, monounsaturated fats, and phytosterols.
- And… it just tastes good.
Many people have begun to swear by the acai berry for a myriad of different ailments, from being overweight to having diabetes, but the jury is still out on whether the acai berry is good for treating any particular ill. While some diets or fruits will work for some to relieve an illness, they may not work for others. We are all individuals and the truth of the matter is that while something may work for a large percentage of the population, there will always be those that simply don’t respond the way that they thought they would. The only way to know what will work for you is to try and find out.
I tried it for about a month and started feeling better gradually as the month went on and it has now become a regular part of my eating habits. I hate to say “diet” because I’m not really trying to lose weight, even though some are saying that the fruit can be used for this purpose. I’ve lost a few pounds, but it’s hard to tell whether it’s due to the berry or not. Even if not, I know that I have more energy than I did before I started using it, so that by itself is enough to make me continue being a fan.
Fruits and vegetables have always been a good source of nutrients and are a very important part of eating healthy, but since the acai berry can account for up to 40% of an Amazon native’s diet, it’s safe to assume that it is good to eat. I give acai berries a thumbs up, simply because you can’t go wrong with adding another fruit to your diet, especially one that is being hailed as a “super fruit”.
