Davidson’s Tea Bulk Organic South African Rooibos Review

Alright, fine, so the package isn’t all pretty with bright colors and elegant phrases. So, what? This stuff is good and good for you and besides, who needs a bunch of fancy packaging, anyway?
Davidson’s Organic South African Rooibos Tea tea isn’t actually “tea” at all. Meaning, it doesn’t come from actual tea leaves. It comes from the plant Calicotome villosa and gets its name from the Afrikaans common word for that plant, “red bush”. You prepare it the same way you would prepare black tea and the flavor is naturally sweet and even perhaps a bit nutty.
Anyone health conscious will love this tea, since it is caffeine and tannin-free. Some have claimed that it helps reduce blood pressure, since I don’t have high blood pressure, I couldn’t tell you whether that’s true or not.
Great quality tea doesn’t necessarily mean great-tasting tea, however. Well, at least, not if you’re not using a quality water to prepare it in. Filtered water is the best for preparing any kind of tea, since the chemicals in your tap water (chlorine, fluoride, etc) can change the flavor of the tea drastically. If you’re looking for a water filter to use specifically for making filtered water for beverages, then the compact Travel Berkey Water Filter is definitely the answer you seek. A larger version is the Big Berkey Water Filter. Most water filters that you can purchase in stores like Wal-Mart offer no option to remove fluoride, however, which sort of defeats the purpose of filtering your water. The Berkey line, however, offers filters specifically for removing fluoride. I don’t know about you, but I don’t like any chemicals in my water, not even ones that those higher up have decided is supposed to be good for me.
If you’re looking for a tea infuser that won’t make your rooibos taste like all the other teas you like to brew, the swissgold® TF 500 Tea Filter is your best bet.
