Sentry Natural Defense Natural Flea and Tick Squeeze-On Review
April 19th, 2010 | Published in Pet Product Reviews
I, for one, am growing tired of the chemical pesticides that veterinarians across the United States are insisting that we put on our pets to keep fleas off of them. There are natural alternatives and Natural Defense By Sentry fits the bill perfectly. They also make a flea and tick shampoo.
I used K9 Advantix on my Pomeranian last year and she had a seizure the next night. We woke up to her wailing and when we got to her, we thought she was dead because she wasn’t responding to anything and couldn’t stand up. She was just limp. She was up and walking around fine about 15 to 20 minutes later, but that was it for me with K9 Advantix. With no prior history of seizures and the fact that I’ve read about other dogs that have had a similar experience with the product, I have to say that I will never put one of these pesticides on my dog again. Sorry, but “seizure” is not on my list of acceptable side effects. That stuff can’t be good for their health.
Enter Natural Defense by Sentry. Other reviews have complained about the “Christmas”y smell that it leaves on dogs, but I’d much rather my dogs smell like Christmas than like poison K9 Advantix, Frontline, or Advantage. THAT stuff stinks. Not only that, but at least with this, I know it’s a natural way to keep the fleas off my pets and it doesn’t cause my dogs (or anyone else’s who I’ve let try this) to lose their hair. I’ve heard of other dogs getting chemical burns from Frontline and hair loss around the point of application. The companies who manufacture them don’t seem to acknowledge that their products are hurting animals (and neither do a lot of veterinarians who peddle their products in their offices!!). Natural Defense products contain cinnamon oil, lemongrass oil, thyme oil, peppermint oil, and clove oil. Keep in mind your dog could be allergic to one of these ingredients, however, even though they are natural.
If you’re looking for a natural solution to the flea and tick problem for your dogs, look no further than Natural Defense By Sentry. I don’t use anything else on my dogs now and you can bet I’ll never go back to the big 3: K9 Advantix, Frontline, or Advantage. In addition, you don’t have to worry about your pet “overdosing” on Natural Defense products or about cats licking the product off of them and getting sick.
