Windshield Wonder Review: It is not what you think!
April 2nd, 2010 | Published in Automotive Product Reviews
The makers of the Windshield Wonder claim that it can clean your vehicle windshields with the greatest of ease, but does it really do the job that well? The answer is.. well… absolutely!
If you have a vehicle whose front windshield is long and has crevices that are difficult to reach with just your hand and a rag alone, then this product is definitely for you. The windshields of sports cars and mini vans can be particularly difficult to clean toward the edges, but this product gets the job done without a lot of headache on your part.
Some other reviews of this product state that you could make your own “windshield wonder” with a rag and a stick, but this logic fails for a couple of reasons, the first of which being that the Windshield Wonder is $20 for the handle and two microfiber cloths made to fit it. By the time you get finished with an attempt to build one, you will have likely wasted hours putting together the right “rag and stick” combination.
You aren’t paying $20 for a “rag and a stick”; you’re paying $20 for the convenience of someone else having already thought of it, designed the product to be more visually appealing and more useful than just a “rag and a stick”, and put it together so you don’t have to. The best comparison would be the reason you pay $1.50 for a 20 ounce cola at a gas station; you’re not paying $1.50 for 20 ounces of soda, you’re paying for the fact that it’s already cold and packaged in a 20 ounce bottle instead of a 2 liter bottle for your convenience.
So, in the end, you can spend $20 on something that’s already made and ready to use or you can spend hours trying to make a homemade version that gets the same results. And you’ll probably end up buying the Windshield Wonder, anyway. We give it a thumbs up for convenience and results.
