The Winter Harvest Handbook Review
May 27th, 2010 | Published in Garden Reviews, Green Product Reviews
The only thing I learned about my parent’s vegetable garden growing up was that I did not enjoy having to help! However, now that I am older and am really concerned about the state of the world, I understand the value and possibly even the future necessity of being able to grow your own food. The Winter Harvest Handbook: Year Round Vegetable Production Using Deep Organic Techniques and Unheated Greenhouses is the perfect book to get for anyone that wants to learn organic gardening and greenhouse gardening.
If the time ever comes when we absolutely had to grow our own food, we would need to know how to do it all throughout the year and this book teaches you how to do just that using a greenhouse that you do not even have to heat.
My husband and I made our first attempt at greenhouse gardening just this year. Although our plants have done well, the little inexpensive greenhouse we bought didn’t go so good. The first big storm blew it away! So, along with getting The Winter Harvest Handbook: Year Round Vegetable Production Using Deep Organic Techniques and Unheated Greenhouses, you will also need to either buy a good quality greenhouse or learn to build a great one of you own. Even though we still have plenty of food options for the present, it is a good feeling to know that we can grow our own vegetables if the time ever comes when we have no choice. In the meantime, we get to enjoy the fresh vegetables we are growing now.
