Are you one of the people who forget to water, or even worse, forget to turn the water off? You can kill plants, garden plants, flowers and even the lawn if you over water or forget to water on a regular basis. I know that I lack the ability to water just right or on a regular basis, and that is what caused me to try this great product.
Another reason that we use the Orbit 62001 lawn and garden water timer is that we like to go camping on a pretty regular basis and are away from the garden and lawn for days at a time. Leaving the home for a few days can wreck havoc on tomato plants and many other vegetables in the garden, and if you are in the south or western parts of the U.S., you can have a completely burnt lawn when you return from a short trip if you are not careful.
You can adjust this water timer as the seasons change with the twist of the knob so that you can adjust to seasonal weather patterns to make sure that whatever you want watered gets the right amount of water at the right time of the day, which brings up another reason to buy one or two of these babies.
Everyone knows that if you water your garden or lawn in the middle of the day during the summer sun that you will likely burn the plants. The reason is that the sunlight is magnified through the water like a magnifying glass, therefore cooking the plants. Setting your watering times to early morning or late evening, or even at night will help protect your lawn and plants from damage from the sun and water combines in the dog days of summer. It is also a Green Product because it does not waste water. You can give the lawn or plants just the right amount, not wasting any water. It also works great with the Contech Scarecrow Sprinkler.
Now, that we know the uses of this water timer, we need to look at the product compared to the rest of the market. This one is battery operated, and the batteries last almost a year under normal use, and that in itself is great. The simplicity of setting it up and using it is also simple, in fact, it is so simple that a child could do it without instructions. Everything is clearly marked, and even though it is digital, the controls are more manual in nature. This is truly a great choice for a water timer. It cost just a few dollars more than most water timers, but has also given the best performance and longevity bar none. we give this on a 5 star rating, you just can not get better.
