I had never thought much about getting into dehydrating food until I read the reviews for the Nesco 700 Watt Food Dehydrator and I will tell you why. Lately I have been buying my dogs these chicken jerky treats at at department store whose name I won’t mention for $15.00 a bag. Now it is a fairly good size bag , but between the 3 dogs that we have now, it is gone in 2 or 3 days! I figured if I got a food dehydrator,( One of the few kitchen products I don’t already have), I could buy the chicken cheaper and dry it myself. I am so glad I tried this because I am saving a ton of money on nutritious dog treats!

Now, you might have something different in mind for your dehydrator like making food for people and I guess that’s a good idea too! You can dry fruit, herds,meats for jerky and vegetables for all kinds of eating purposes. This little dehydrator is very powerful at 700 watts and really does dry things in hours instead of days it can take with other dehydrators. You can order extra trays so you can dry more food at once and this is what I discovered I needed to do to make up a big batch of my chicken and beef  jerky treats, which we can also eat because they are ll natural. For the dogs treats I just don’t add any spices.

I always thought that food dehydrators seemed like a lot of trouble for some dry, bland tasting food, but the Nesco Watt Food Dehydrator is actually fun to use because it is so easy and I like anything in my kitchen that saves me money! This item would make a great gift for anyone that is picky about the food they eat or if like me they have spoiled to death dogs they want to make homemade treats for!
