Ab Flyer Reviews
January 18th, 2011 | Published in Health & Fitness Product Reviews
So Ab Flyer was recently released and has been enjoying rather a great deal of publicity. Basically it’s another fitness machine that promises you the perfect chiseled torso you have always dreamed of. The Ab Flyer reviews will tell you if there is any truth to the claims.
It isn’t like any of the previous ab machines though; instead of kneeling down doing a fancy derivative of the old fashioned sit up, you are actually not even on the floor kneeling resting on pads and swinging your knees in a reversed arc movement.
It claims that through that reverse arc motion, you target the lower, middle, and upper abs simultaneously with no strain on your back, neck, or shoulders. Many have been skeptical about this though, as will be discussed shortly.
The machine comes in two versions:
- The Home Version (which comes with arm and seat cushions, electronic timer and counter, and professional designed steel tubing)
- The Pro Version (which includes a heavy duty steel reinforced frame that supports up to 350 lbs, a dual-function digital computer to count repetitions and for interval training, as well as an advanced resistance system for adding weight plates up to 20 lbs)
Both versions come with a guide to the system, an exercise plan, a meal plan, and a cardio DVD.
Now with the advantages:
- It’s easy to put together, you receive it mostly assembled.
- It is easy to fold, store, and transport.
- It comes with adjustable kneepads so that the knees can be turned to exercise the side oblique muscles.
- It works the entire core abdominal group.
- It has adjustable resistance to suite users of all fitness levels.
But many fitness coaches expressed concerns however some of them are:
- Even though it’s designed to eliminate any strain on the neck, back, and shoulders, you should be very careful and watch your posture while using it. The exerciser tends to slouch on it which can cause severe strain on your neck and shoulders as well as back pain over time.
- It won’t work correctly unless you apply weight on your knees due to knee problems.
- The machine is very limiting if compared to other gym routines which usually consist of other exercises benefiting the abs as well as the rest of your body.
- It can be costly compared to other products
If used correctly however, it can be very beneficial in many ways, exercising your shoulders and back as well as your abs. It won’t give you the perfect sculpted figure though, but will build you up noticeably. A couple of US Olympic gold medalists actually endorse it, which is always a good sign. It always comes down to many things like how you manage your diet, other body fitness exercises etc.
The cost, however, is a little too much for what you get from this machine though, which might be the biggest upset of the whole machine. Many trainers don’t think the Ab Flyer is worth all the hype it is getting, the normal old fashioned routines at the gym can yield better results in a shorter period of time and costs nothing.
